The D.O.C. is a self-regulating body for individuals with
osteopathic training and experience.
Its principal functions are :-
To represent individuals with osteopathic training, experience
and appropriate insurance, and to form a national network and register of
such individuals.
To provide links between practitioners, to allow confidence
in referrals.
To provide a data referral point for the public to find
practitioners in their own area.
To provide group services to members in such areas as insurance,
education and marketing.
To defend members from harassment and injustice from outside
organisations and individuals, and to take any requisite action to protect
our right to practice.
To provide information to practitioners, to enable them
to keep abreast of current developments.
To recognise the freedom of practitioners to follow and
develop their own therapeutic specialities, within safety criteria laid down
by the DOC from time to time.
To provide a forum for social interaction and information
exchange, nationally, regionally and locally.
To act as a "think-tank" on osteopathic matters,
its practice, philosophy and organisation.
